How to Hire a Designer
Preparing
How do I hire a 3D designer?
Hiring a designer is easy and simply and can be hired for 3D print, animation, effects and much more. You may be saying where do I start? First start with an idea or a product that needs to be modeled; make sure you have a clear goal on what you would like to be modeled.
Next before contacting a modeler gather some pictures or sketches together; the more knowledge you have the better the designer will be able to quote you a clear and straight forward price.
Contacting
Now that you know what kind of designer you want and found their email; now it is time to email them. Make sure to state what the object you want to design and how you want it and what material if your going to print it. Provide in your email a detailed list of how big your looking to have this model; is it colored and why your looking to print this model (cause us modelers love to hear where and how are models are going to be used) WARNING use must not use 3D printing services to print real working guns or any item that is copy righted.
After you email the designer they causally, if everything is in the email will give you a based quote of how much it is going to be and how long it will take (please allow 1-2 business days for a modeler to email you back)
Closing the deal
There are different kinds of freelance modelers some charge flat rates and other choose to do hourly; myself I use flat rate. After you get the quote (hourly or flat) now it is time to sign a contract/agreement, do not have or give anything to a modeler without an agreement set up. The agreement should say what the project is, as the item modeled; the price and the hold(if the item is going to be paid up front no need for a hold). An agreement is like having a receipt it lets you know what and how your getting out of the project. Avoid modelers whom try to get around this as it is a "red flag" in any business.
If you have an idea and would like to see it modeled please send me an email at [email protected]
